How does the writer of ‘ Winter Swans ‘ present the relationship in the poem? Compare this with one other poem you have studied 

The way the writer presents the relationship in ‘ Winter Swans ‘ is that he presents how the day is a rainy day and that two swan are having an argument or they are fighting. The writer sets the weather which represents the mood of the Swans. This is similar to ‘ Sonnet 29 ‘ because these writer’s uses Nature Imagery because they compare there feelings and emotions to the nature.

In ‘ Sonnet 29 ‘ the writer talks about how her thoughts are like vines wrapped around a tree comparing the lover talks about how they are aparted from each other but her thoughts are wrapped around her lover, which this is a metaphor.

How does the writer use language here to show us what the horse felt about being up for sale?

The writer uses language to show that the way the horse felt about about being up for the sale is that it was a dramatic experience for the horse to be sold in a auction and to be never see from his mother ever again. He uses words like ‘ terrible’ and ‘hubbub’ that makes the situation sound as if it was a confusing and a horrible place to be for a young horse.

The writer uses alot of ‘and’ because there’s alot of things or scenes happening all at once. It’s almost like he’s listing all the scenes that’s happening.  As the mother was sold before the young horse he says how ” I circled the ring in a desperate search for my mother ” that this shows that the young horse was scared and wanting to search for his mother to just see her one more time before they go on their separate ways.

There was this once train who always passed through a stormy sea and no one knows why this train always pass through a mighty sea. Ever since the rail track was built in front of different coloured houses, this specific train is brave enough to pass these houses and enter to the gates of sea of monsters.

Ever since this day, the waves are getting bigger and bigger and the blue sky begins to get grayer and grayer.

The Dickensian Aspect

The issues around poverty today is that more and more people are living in poor conditions. About 896 million people are in developing countries live on $1.90 a day or less. This is not enough for a whole family because of the cost of food, taxes, water etc. This tells me that more than half of the world are living in bad situations for example Syria. The war that is happening in Syria effects the people of the shootings and killings makes people desperate to leave, seek help and to start a new life.

From my point of view is that there’s more poor people living in refugee camps or in a inadequate housing. Sometimes people in the UK and in other countries take things for granted. People don’t realise how poor people have to face with the conditions and the situations they have to live everyday. One of the things we mostly take for granted is water and food. The reason why is because there is a large amount of people who consume and waste food. Water is one of the most important resource and most countries have a lack of clean water. We use water for a lot of things but some of things we use it for no need. Children die from diseases and drinking dirty water because they don’t have any options left. They take risks to try and live.

In some countries they use a large amount of food for example USA. Roughly half of the population people are obesity because the large amount of food they consume and the amount of money they spend. With that amount of money spent, can be given to the poor and could at least feed a few families. 795 million people do not have enough to eat which is a large amount of people starving. Based on what I know, is that people who are poor can’t afford a good amount of food because of the wages they receive is a low amount.

People who lives in poverty work for long hours to try a buy food for their families and to survive. If I had a family and living in those conditions I would do the same and try to give what’s best to my family. It’s hard to see people trying to survive in those conditions and some people don’t realise how hard and how life is not fair.

As a conclusion, the issues today is that the charity’s, donations, the red cross and many more are tackling with this situation. This consists with a lot of help and a large amount of money to try and balance out the rich and the poor.  I think that we should realise how lucky we are and the amount of resources available to us.

Then to end, the conclusion and to restate my opinion

If I was to make a modern day Christmas Carol I would set it in London because some parts in the city there are some old building. This can create the atmosphere  like in Dickens time and the buildings in London are old which is much more easier than creating the whole set. It can also cost alot of money if I was to create old buildings and to create a whole set. The reason why I have chosen London is because the way people before and now celebrate Christmas. People spend alot money even if your poor or rich and spend there time to decorate and to buy alot of food for there family.

I would want a actor who can act like Scrooge( cold hearted, miserable). It wouldn’t be easy to find the right actor and age to act as Scrooge but eventually I could. I want this actor be a cruel and cold but happy, joyful and caring. A good actor is who can understand an the feelings to Scrooge. A person who can be ambitious and comfortable to act like someone who is different and who would like a challenge.

In Extract B the feeling is scary because its saying how a lot of things is happening all at once. Its like a nightmare which a lot of things happening. Then Dickens describes how the appearance of the ghost comes up and the way it looks. he writes as if it was a list and that it sounds like a lot of things is happening at the night. The feeling which Scrooge has encountered which he has never felt before.

Dickens begins to talk about the way the ghost looks like and some clothing which makes scrooge think it is. Scrooge asks the ghost if its a spirit which machismo realise that he doesn’t believe in ghosts but in spirits. Spirits come to people for a reason and a purpose to change or to realise you need to change.

I personally think the description tells me that the ghost of Christmas past will try to show him what he needs to change. His personality and emotions is really cold hearted and never really kind or happy with his life.

1. I think that the walkie talkie was bad idea becuase its a building which is different to other buildings. But there are negative impacts on the building. People have been giving bad response about Walkie Talkie becuase it caused to damage cars, pavements and shops.

“The building was crowned with a sky garden” which tells me that this buiding has been designed and built very good. On the other hand, the people who lives or works near the Walkie Talkie gave bad comments to the building. It has effected them becuase some said” The sun light which is reflected from the building has destroyed my car”.  It’s the way the building has been built.

I personally think that the Walkie Talkie should never of been built becuase I can agree it looks nice. Although, the designer must of thought what could happen if this or that could happen. Then they have to invest more money on the problems it had to fix it. The designer should of thought what could of happen if the sun light reflected or the heat which is reflected.

The way Dickens creates Scrooge’s in this passage is that he describes the features like the eyes,chin,lips etc. Dickens uses a lot of similes because he tells how hard or how soft Scrooge’s personality is. In the passage he says ‘secret, and self-contained, and solitary as an oyster’ which means like he doesn’t express his feelings and emotions. Dickens uses a simile that describes how closed Scrooge is.

Dickens tells how nothing could make Scrooge feel more warmer or colder. There is something about Scrooge which cold and miserable.  No one dares to come near to Scrooge or to talk to him because his the way he looks or stares a people is scary. This passage gives a impact to the reader because it tells how miserable Scrooge is and how no one dares to talk to him. I personally,think that he is very lonely and he has a very, very cold heart.

In the beginning of the book, my impression was more like “This seems to be getting interesting” because it started saying how ‘Shall I press this’ or ‘Nothing is going to happen if I press this button’. The theme is a boy called Vernon Bright who done things which he was not meant to do. Crazy things happen when Vernon do things that is a good and bad way.

The style is like a teen boy experimenting and doing things which he thinks is good. In the book he says”This big red button says’ARMED’ is for the bells and the cannon.” The cannons were actually military safety cannons practice purposes and he thought nothing was going to happen because its safe. The difference between this book and any other books is because the way the character always takes risks and thinking nothing bad is going to happen.

I noticed that in the book the author uses personification and rhetorical questions. The author sometimes extends a problem into a big problem. The the characters have there own personality and how they express it. The relationship between the style of a non- fiction and the reliability of its content is that time travelling does not exist but the character makes it, has if it is real. He thinks making a machine can make him whatever and he shows what happens to believe what is real.

In my opinion the book is similar to other books and films because it tells me how a person what to do something which is impossible, but its something people dream to happen in reality.
